One of the most common binge drinking types comes in the form of de-stress drinkers. In this group, people may drink to relax and just have a moment to let things go. In other cases, they may drink to feel a sense of control when other aspects of life seem chaotic. No matter the reason, stress causes them to drink many drinks too quickly.

Boredom Drinkers

In some cases of binge drinking types, people find themselves drinking this way just for something to do. So while trying to pass time throughout the night, they may have several drinks or shots. In other cases, boredom drinkers may just grow tired of the day in and out tasks. So to change things up, they engage in drinking too much, too quickly.

Community Drinkers

Another example of binge drinking types is community drinkers. For these types of binge drinkers, their habit comes from needing to feel like they belong. Therefore, most of their drinking occurs when they are with a group of friends. Because drinks are the common bonding ground, they may encourage each other to drink more and keep them coming.

Depressed Drinkers

In some cases, people may binge drink due to sadness or depression. Because most anyone can share these feelings, there’s no age that is most true for. Whereas most young people engage in most binge drinking types, this type can and does apply to an older crowd as well. A lot of people seek a to a sense of comfort in their drink. Therefore, when they feel this relief, they may keep those drinks coming in order to keep that feeling.

If you find that you fall into any of these binge drinking types, it’s important to take that seriously. While it may seem innocently fun at the time, binge drinking can cause a lot of health problems.
